Artist Residency
We propose a self-led, studio-based residency for artists who wish to work in Lisbon and discover its art scene. Depending on their projects, residents are encouraged to use our exhibition space at the end of their stay to present a solo show or a workshop.
-
Our residency is studio-based and self-directed, for artists who want to spend one to six months working in Lisbon. Residents are given a private or shared studio in our converted warehouse in Marvila, an up-and-coming industrial neighbourhood on the Tagus river, now home to artists, designers and independent cultural projects.
We encourage a self-led residency with an emphasis on cultural exchange, production, experimentation and peer exchange.
We do not impose a theme; residents are invited to continue an existing body of work or develop a new project in response to Lisbon, Marvila and the specific raw character of the space.During the residency, artists become part of the day-to-day life of the collective: informal studio visits, conversations over work in progress, spontaneous collaborations, and we will of course connect you to any relevant people or cultural space we think might support your project.
The residency does not include accommodation or a stipend; it is a self-funded opportunity, particularly suitable for artists who value independence, a raw working environment and the chance to plug into Lisbon’s evolving art scene.

Disciplines
The residency is open to a wide range of contemporary practices, including:
– Painting
– Sculpture & installation
– Drawing
– Printmaking
– Photography
– Video & new media
– Performance
– Sound art
– Text- and research-based practices
– Interdisciplinary & socially engaged projectsWe welcome both emerging and established artists and are open to cross-disciplinary proposals.
Special focus (if any):
We have a natural affinity for practices that explore cross-cultural exchange and site-specific work. However, there is no fixed thematic focus, and artists are free to pursue their own line of inquiry.
Outcomes
Depending on the project, residents may use our 160 m² exhibition space to realise a solo presentation (exhibition, workshop, talk…) subject to a joint decision about timing and feasibility. -
Studio description
The studios are located in a raw, industrial warehouse in Marvila. The building houses a mix of private and semi-open studios plus a central exhibition/event area of about 160 m².
Available workspaces for residents include shared or private studios, depending on your needs. Costs will vary accordingly.
Residents work alongside local studio holders The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, with occasional activity and crowd when we have events in the exhibition space,.
All studios are unfurnished or minimally furnished, with a table, a chair, lighting and Wi-Fi.
Technical facilities & equipment
We do not provide specialised equipment. Artists are expected to be largely self-sufficient and to bring or source any specific tools, machinery or any equipment needed for their work. Basic tools and ad-hoc sharing between artists may be possible on an informal basis.
A basic kitchenette (large fridge + induction hob) and toilets are available.
Access & Working hours
Artists have regular access to their studios; exact hours are arranged individually and can generally accommodate intensive working periods. The space is intended for working artists rather than public visitors but artists are welcomed to have studio visits and invite collaborators in the space.
Accessibility
Unfortunately the studios are accessible only by stairs, which may pose challenges for artists with limited mobility.
